Explore Winter Olympics
Good morning, everyone! Today I’m going to share some cool information about the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. I’m grateful that we had this assigment for several of our classes. It goes without saying that people should know, even a little bit, about such an important sport event. As we know, there are big quarrels between International Olympic Committee and Russian Olympic team. Due to the temporary suspension of the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) in the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Russian national team was not allowed compete at the Games. However, athletes who meet the IOC criteria were able to participate in the competition in the status of “ Olympic athletes from Russia”. This is very sad situation.
NORWAY’S CROSS-COUNTRY SKIER SUPREME
Winning more medals than any other athlete at PyeongChang 2018, five in total, Norwegian cross-country skiing idol Marit Bjørgen became the most decorated Winter Olympian of all time, with a collection of 15 medals to her name. Eight of them are golds, equalling the record held by her compatriots Ole Einar Bjørndalen and Bjørn Daehlie, who won their titles in biathlon and cross-country respectively. Those records are just two of the many she has achieved during her remarkable career.
Despite my research about Winter Olympics, I’ve also explored that we will have Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. There is a link about the concept of LA 2028. Go ahead and take a look.
I’ve also did some research about medals for Winter Olympics through the time. In the beginning, it was stipulated that the medals for the Winter Games must be different from those of the Summer Games. Today, their design must take into account certain visual elements defined by the IOC and the OCOG, with the IOC having the final approval. The Greek goddess of victory must not appear on the obverse. They must show the Olympic emblem, the full name of the Games in question, the name of the sport or discipline concerned and the OCOG’s emblem.
thanks!
