Dinner and Diatribes

My Junior Year at the University has come to the end. It’s time I invited 6 magnificent virtusos for dinner to have some intimate time together. Here is the Guest List:

1. Tom Yorke

Tom Yorke is a highly talented musician, known for his distinctive vocals and unique songwriting style. He is best known as the lead singer and primary songwriter of the iconic band “Radiohead”, which has sold millions of albums worldwide and has been critically acclaimed for their groundbreaking music. Yorke has also released several solo albums, showcasing his ability to experiment with different genres and styles, including electronic, ambient, and experimental music. He is respected by fans and peers alike for his innovative and visionary approach to music, making him a true icon of modern music. I am interested in fillmaking process of his music videos and unorthodox approach in composing exquisite melodies.

2. Anya-Taylor Joy

Anya Taylor-Joy is a talented actress who has received critical acclaim for her performances in various films and television shows. She is known for her versatility and ability to portray complex characters with ease. Some of her notable roles include Thomasin in “The Witch,” Casey Cooke in “Split” and “Glass,” Emma Woodhouse in “Emma,” and Beth Harmon in “The Queen’s Gambit.” Additionally, she has won several awards for her performances, including a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award. I admire her striking beauty and versatility, she is an example of feminine beauty for me. I would like to ask her about typecasting, acting experience and probably her favorite Spanish poetry!

Her music influenced the development of American folk music, particularly in the genre of blues and gospel.After her recordings gained popularity, Hall began performing widely across the United States, showcasing her unique voice and style. Today, she is remembered as one of the greatest folk singers of the 20th century, and her music continues to inspire musicians around the world. Her soothing voice and touching lyrics cast a spell on me, but I also would love to learn more about Southern life during The Great Depression.

4. Luca Guadagnino

He is known for his evocative use of music, visually stunning and emotionally resonant films that explore complex human relationships and themes of desire, love and identity. Guadagnino is widely regarded as one of the most talented and visually striking filmmakers working today, and he has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations for his contributions to the industry. I would ask him about his artistic process, how he approaches screenwriting, casting, and how he works with his cinematographers to create the unique look of his films.

5. Max Richter

Max Richter is a contemporary German-British composer and musician who is renowned for his innovative compositions that blend classical, electronic, and avant-garde music. He has composed music for a range of mediums including film, television, theatre, ballet, and classical performance. I would like to explore the musical inspirations that have shaped Max’s career, such as other composers, genres, cultures, or historical events. As someone who has created works that respond to political and social issues, Max might have interesting insights on the power of music to connect people and communicate ideas.

6. Maya Plisetskaya

Maya Plisetskaya was a renowned Russian ballet dancer, choreographer, and actress. She was one of the greatest ballerinas of the 20th century, and was known for her unique style that combined classical ballet with modern dance elements. Plisetskaya danced with the Bolshoi Ballet for over 35 years, and was a principal dancer with the company for more than 25 years. Maya Plisetskaya’s career was marked by her incredible talent, her trailblazing spirit, and her unwavering dedication to the art of ballet. Some topics that could be discussed are her upbringing in a family of prominent Russian-Jewish intellectuals, her rise to fame as a ballet dancer in the Soviet Union and her career and sophisticated dancing technique.
