“A family tree”

I am always trying to learn something new about America. American history, food, cinema, theater etc. Especially, I love American art. In my opinion there is a lot of great examples like Andy Warholl, John Sloan, Nicholas Marsicano, Herman Rose. One of my favorite painters of all the time is Norman Rockwell. He was a literal genius with unique ironical style. Norman Rockwell was a prolific artist, producing more than 4,000 original works! Most of his surviving works are in public collections. He’s also illustrated about 40 books, and it’s amazing! Now I’m going to describe one of his incredible paintings, which is called “A family tree”.

To start with, I think that Mr. Rockwell have tried to show the public an important thing – how it is really important to knew your roots and history of your family.

The genealogical tree is starting with a bottom of the painting. There are two persons-a middle-aged man and modest women. His name is Robert “Black Beard” Ghost. He was a pirate of the Atlantic ocean in the 1800’s. He was one of the most cruel and ruthless robbers at the ship called “Flying Holland”. A 42-years old man came to Italia and robbed the merchant ship in the port of Neapol. He met his future wife Susanna on captured ship and fell in love with her at the first sight. She was an Puritan angel of his dreams. He finally found a peace in his soul. They got married and welcomed their son in two years. They gave their firstborn a name – Hugo August Ghost.

Hugo August has stolen his father character and mother’s personality. Young man was strict, honest and level-headed. He decided to become a sailor on the fishing boat and start a small business. A 32-years old Hugo met his spouse at the marketplace in Ontario. Her name was Benedicta. She has ginger hair and looked like a flame in white dress. Young family settled down at Ontario because of good climate and Christian school near their house. They wanted to give their child a proper religious education.

Their daughter Sarah went to a Christian school and graduated at 19 years old. Sarah became a nun at the orphanage near the American Consulate. She met a minister of justice at the public garden, and changed her lastname to Blake. Couple of sweethearts moved to Michigan and put down their roots near the Great Lakes. They adopted an little girl Dorothy and lived happily.

Their beautiful daughter Dorothy wasn’t grew up spoiled. She was a hardworking, generous and warm-hearted young lady. She dreamed to become a caring wife and mother to her children. Her dreams becomed true-she married a handsome frontiersman. Johan Rosenthal and gave birth to twins – Harry and William. They was a daredevils!

Hugo’s grandchildren became a brave Union soldiers at WW1. One of the twin boys, Harry, was married to a blonde woman Josie. They had a son, Frank Rosenthal. And the other twin, William married a brunette actress Julia. They had two sons – Noel and Patrick. They grew up and decided to gave their lives to a God and became preachers. The Harry’s son married a native American woman. Panuka and Frank lived together in Wyoming for 50 years. He was a prospector, and she was a fortune teller.

Their son Lucas was a rancher. He owned a huge herd of horses. His wife, Regina chosen him over a career of show girl-true love story! They had a beautiful daughter Veronica. She looked like her mother but has her father’s personality. She married a successful lawyer, Travis Walker. His parents, Lucy and Brandon Walker were a Southerners and worked as a journalists at the business magazine. All members of this extended family were a wonderful people with theirs own destinies.

And finally, the family history of Walkers stops at the little boy named Bobby, son of Veronica and Travis. This amazing connection of human lives are lasting since 1867! I hope that Bobby will continue his roots and make his own family.
